Fight Cancer in Kenya: Optiven Foundation teams up with KNH to help in the fight against Cancer on October 14th, 2019.
According to the 2018 GLOBOCAN report by the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer, there are approximately 47,887 new cases of Cancer in Kenya annually while 32,987 die from it yearly.
Most of these Kenyans seeking cancer treatment locally come to Nairobi from far flung parts of the country. Many times over, they have a huge challenge when it comes to accommodation, since many of them cannot afford the huge cost of accommodation in the city.
They end up spending their nights in the cold corridors of our medical facilities, as they waitThe Foundation has today donated Kshs100, 000 towards the construction of the upcoming hostel, which will come as a huge accommodation solution to the cancer patients.
According to Dr. Esther Munyoro, Head Pain and Palliative Care Unit KNH, the Hostel will help to heal the emotions and agony of Cancer patients in Kenya.
